Get Involved – You Never Know Whose Life May Depend Upon It

On December 13, 1997 I lost my mother to a 6 month batle with cervical cancer at the mere age of 15. I was greatly affected by this loss, as would any teenager at that age and couldn’t understand this silent killer called Cancer! I know the hardships we had to endure without my mom being there anymore and the finacial needs that we were faced with after her death.
14 years down the road, when my life was going well and I had everything I ever needed, my world was shattered when my dad was diagnosed in August 2011 with AML (Acute Myloid Leukaemia) and tragedy had once again struck our family. Just earlier that year I hosted a Shavathon event at my office and I BOLDLY shaved my head in support of all the brave people battling this disease… little did I know that in just a few short months after, we would be facing the same battle yet again.
We sadly lost my dad on 15th September 2011 just one month into his treatment and we were once again left behind to pick up the pieces…
I am now more determined than ever to help those in need who are suffering the same fate as my family did and want to encourage those facing this trauma to know that God is your strength and to lean on Him in this difficult time and to know that everything will be ok!
I don’t know if this silent killer will ever be eradicated, but what I do know is that the more people we get to join hands in this fight, the more lives we can SAVE!
Get out there and get involved, because you never know who’s life may depend on it!
