Laerskool Phalaborwa (Groenskool) Host Cut & Donate Hair Day for Shavathon
Louise Bosch, educator, wrote the following on the 24th July 2014:
I teach at Laerskool Phalaborwa (Groenskool) in Phalaborwa, near the Kruger National Park. One of our educator’s 3 year old son has been diagnosed with Leukemia.
This has moved our whole school – educators and learners all the same!
We decided to donate hair next year at Shavathon. Most of our girls are already growing their hair for this worthy cause and we measure and chat about it weekly. I am looking forward to next year’s shavathon at Laerskool Phalaborwa.
We are the 1st school in our province to involve all our learners in growing their hair with a view to making a hair donation at Shavathon 2015, in solidarity with an educator at our school whose young son has cancer.
March 2015:
Laerskool Phalaborwa (Groenskool) hosted a ‘cut and donate’ day at the school on the 23 March 2015 and collected R6 000-00 and wait for it …. 85 pony tails from the Gr.R to 7 girls!”
