Shave, Spray and Give HOPE with Shavathon 2020

Afrikaanse Media Vrystelling

1 December 2019 – As the year draws to a close and planning starts for 2020, CANSA, reminds all to diarise CANSA’s 17th national Shavathon, taking place on Saturday, 29 February 2020 at shopping centres countrywide. The theme ‘Hope 2020’ is apt, as participants will be giving ‘Hope’ to cancer Survivors and loved ones, by showing solidarity with them in the fight against cancer as they stencil, spray or shave their hair. Invite 20 people to join the fun event in the year 2020!

Maria Scholtz, CANSA Head of Sustainability says, “A few venues will be offering events on Sunday, 1 March 2020 – and details will be made available on the Shavathon website closer to the time. Adults pay R50 and children u / 12 R25 to participate. Funds received go towards CANSA’s care and support programmes for patients, caregivers and loved ones . We hope everyone will join us in showing those affected by cancer that they are not alone. Participating provides an opportunity for everyone to be involved in inspiring ‘Hope’, by spraying or stencilling their hair, or shaving their head, or donating a ponytail to make a wig. Selfie boards are also available to share the fun and action with others while creating awareness of cancer and the need to support cancer Survivors (patients).”

To host an event, please register and order Shavathon products through the Shavathon eShop at www.shavathon.org.za . Anyone can host an event, it is not limited to workplaces, organisations or schools. The deadline for registration and orders is 21 February 2020. An early bird discount applies if orders are placed by 31 January 2020. Hosts’ events will take place 2 to 6 March 2020 and they are encouraged to challenge 20 potential hosts to organise a Shavathon event.
